About

My name is Kelly Slater, yes, like the surfer! I was born in North Carolina. Wilson, to be exact, but we moved to Wilmington when I was 4, so I consider that my hometown. If you've never been to Wilmington, I suggest you visit there at least once in your lifetime. It's a short drive to Myrtle Beach, and there are so many things to do, from shopping in one of many of the cute little boutiques, to visiting the historical downtown area and the Battleship, to dining at one of the countless restaurants, and of course, one of my favorites, going to the beach! Growing up in Wilmington, you have a different life than anyone else. You're always tan. You're hair is always a mess. You wear Rainbows.  This quote sums it up perfectly... "At the beach, life is different. Time doesn't move hour to hour, but mood to moment. We live by the currents, plan by the tides and follow the sun." So true. I love it.

I spent my summer days working at Kure Beach Pier, where I met my husband, Justin, back in August of 2005. It was love at first sight. I'm not kidding. I know, I didn't believe in it either, but I promise you, it exists. We dated long distance for over a year, (he was living in Charleston, WV at the time, and I was of course, in Wilmington), until I finally moved to Sandusky, Ohio where his job brought us, in December of 2006. Talk about a culture shock. The weather, the people, the accent, everything was so different. And, did I mention they don't serve sweet tea up here?! I know. Devastating. It definitely took some getting used to, and there were times when I swore I was 'moving back home tomorrow,' but with Justin by my side, we got through it, and have since settled down. I finished school at Bowling Green State University in 2009, and graduated with a BA in Telecommunications, with a focus on Broadcast Journalism. My dream job would be to A) Host The View or B) Have my own show, kind of like The Oprah Winfrey Show, only it would be called The Kelly Slater Show. (I know, I dream big!)

Anyway, in August of 2010, we had our fairy tale wedding. Just check out some of these pictures. http://walkinonsunshinetheblog.blogspot.com/2013/01/pressed-cotton_17.html We have made the best group of friends, have a gorgeous house that we love working on, and in January 2012, we welcomed our daughter, Tinley Nicole Slater, into the world. We couldn't be happier. Life couldn't be sweeter.

So, that's my story. I'd love to hear your's! :o)
