A Visit with Santa and A Holiday Photo Shoot

While we were in Charleston, WV visiting family over Thanksgiving, we spent Saturday at the mall. The first stop was to see Santa, or Ho Ho as Tinley calls him. Mind you, last year, she wasn't even a year old when she met him, so I had no idea what to expect. While we were waining in line, they called all the kids up to sit with Santa while they sang Christmas songs, rang jingle bells, and "made it snow." I was hoping this would loosen her up a bit, and maybe we'd actually get a smile out of her for this year's picture. Nope. Instead, when it was finally our turn for a picture, she just starred. No tears. No screams. Just stares. She wouldn't even look away for a picture! So, we came away with this...

I guess it's still cute. And at least my child wasn't the one making a scene at Santa Land.  The funniest thing is that now when she sees him in a mall or sees a picture of Santa in a book, or even an inflatable Santa in someone's yard as we're driving, she screams "Ho Ho!" and waves. So, maybe she does like him and things are looking up for next year's picture. Of course, we'll also have a 7 month-old, so who knows what will happen with that thrown in the mix...

Anyway, after we visited Santa, we went and had her pictures made. Again, she wasn't quick to give out smiles. I'm singing 'Itsy Bitsy Spider,' Papaw is waving and calling her name, the photographer is quacking like a duck... you guys know how it goes. All the adults in the room lose all sense of pride when trying to make a kid smile, and will do whatever it takes. Thank goodness we were in a city where we don't know a lot of people, that's all I can say.

We did manage to get a few smiles out of here and some of the pictures turned out cute. Here are my two faves:

Her outfit is from Ralph Lauren. I must admit, she looks even adorable, even from standing upside down on my head. :o)
